Charles, I have never done this myself but I would not think that you would need to use a B/S starter, the Bacon Slicer was finished with by Oct. 29 anyway , the gearboxes according to Bill Williams in his book "Austin Seven Specials" all have the same bell housings and are interchangeable. I would say that as long as you had a flywheel with the starter teeth on the back (gearstick side), That you should be able to fit the starter and housing that was fitted to the last Box Saloons before they changed over to having the starter under the bonnet (Sep. 32), I don't see that there should be any need to "carve" anything about.
