Bruce has half promised to send me a copy of the ADR rules, suffice it to say the "D" seemed to stand for "Don't"! Now I see it means design.
I have had about 50 stones of flesh in my '36 tourer, more than the 40 stones recommended by the factory as a maximum. Having thought about the battery weights a bit, you may need to consider the shear strengths of the 6 bolts which hold the rear axle together, I feel. In fact, maybe we should all consider them!
There are numerous pictures of chassis' around and I can probably email you one, but in is not dimensions - maybe Bruce can help here? Bear in mind the two different chassis types, 6'-3" and 6'-9" wheelbase.
Over here, most crossmembers are available form stock - not sure about any main chassis rails, but the later long wheelbase ones are much stronger and heavier and importantly for you, can be cut down and made into a short one. Remember my comments about the rear axle though, the early ones are weaker too and cutting down a long chassis means using an early axle, unless the late axle is cut and welded.
There are several makers in the UK who will supply an early body to order; not sure about a scoop-scuttle. They will cost around £2000 Stirling - hardly cheap! Wings will probably be extra.
Hope this helps a bit!
