Thanks Bruce, For the record I don't have a preference for PDF format over anything else.
Yesterday I bought my own copy of the ADRs and spent the evening reading through them. Yes, there are a lot to comply with, but the compliance for a one-off is with the INTENT. I started this project by talking to the Motor Registry Technical people first to "pave the way". I have found by past experience that arguing does not help! They have been very helpful. :-)
When you get down to the nitty gritty, most of the ADRs make complete sense. For example, the section on side intrusion specs does not apply if the vehicle is designed to have no (or removable) doors. Frontal protection is for our own safety, and fairly easy to comply with anyway eg steering column must not be pushed back into the passenger compartment by more than 127mm(?) for a frontal crash of 20g. This just means absorbing the crash before it hits the box (stiffer chassis behind). etc etc.
Trying to make an original A7 comply would be a disaster though, but the one-off allows much more flexibility with the design variants. I am sure I will have some challenges like constructing the doors and side panels to resist 1800kg crush force without intruding into the car by more than 450mm but I am sure that it can be done!
Anyway, thanks for the help, I am not yet too discouraged!
Cheers, DG
