Hello David, My 28 Chummy has an original Austin cap, it has 6 finger groves, I would imagine that then as now other manufacturers would have made replacement caps, and would have altered them slightly in order not to infringe any "Austin Motor Co." patents, Yours could be one of those. If you have access to the "Association Magazines" engineering drawings of the 1922-1928 cap are in 1971A page14 , and the 1929-1932 which has 8 finger groves are in 1970A (The very first edition) on page 12. They make the suggestion that they be machined out of a Woolworth's armchair castor!!!! Very ingenious don't you think? Regards Ian
