> What should the static ignition timing be set to on our cars? 10 degrees before TDC? 0r 1" on the flywheel?
Depends on the ignition system and the state of tune of the car, and to a lesser extent what fuel you're using. If it's a BLIC magneto for instance, ignition timing is quite easy, just set TDC after compression stroke for No. 1 cylinder, put a peg in the hole in the brass gear inside the distributor cap and fit the magneto. Remove the peg, replace the distributor cap and off you go. However, I often find that I need to do some fine tuning, i.e. by driving the car, and re-timing the ignition so that I get the onset of rumble at about 2/3 advanced on the ignition advance & retard lever.
