Thanks Charles.

I will start with the first point, I used a small crank flywheel on the large crank. Yes, you can turn out the larger taper (and recut the keyway) on the small crank flywheel, but there is VERY little meat left on the outside of the boss which contains the taper. I had a larger boss welded over the smaller boss of the small crank flywheel. If you left the smaller boss as it was, I am sure that what remained would split rather than take up on the taper.

I have never given a flywheel a hammer "ringing" test, but I am sure the A7 flywheel is steel, not cast iron.

As I always replace clutch cover bolts on all my A7 rebuilds with high tensile bolts, I have always found them to be UNF, I don't know why except maybe the clutches are American (Borg Warner). Could this be the case?

Any other opinions please?

Greg.
