Thankyou gentlemen. I had an idea that what I required was to be a certain era of combinations of cranks and flywheels.

As I usually do, I have rethought about my problem and have gone about my problem solving in the following manner.

I have a selection of early and late flywheels, none of the correct era. I have measured the different areas of the late ones and have decided I can use the later flywheel by removing the ring gear and reducing the outside diameter of the flywheel.

The six bolt holes are correct in both, machine from the back side of the flywheel the substantial difference in thickness and with little other fettling I can then use this on the Chummy.

I know this must be hard for you true brits to accept, BUT I have always found the clutch cover bolts to be UNF, sorry, I won't mention this touchy subject again. Well just a little ......

I think I can worm my way out of this one, lets keep the forum open on the different flywheels though. I will have the modified flywheel machined, balanced and the motor back in by the weekend. (if my measuring is correct, that is) I find it interesting to note the differences. It's like camshafts, there are so many differing cams also.

I am sure the clutch is the correct one for the car as it is not the 'mousetrap spring" type. The engine number for the Chummy from memory starts with a 94..., being a late 28 early 29.
