My May 29 Chummy has what I have always believed to be original headlights and they are of the first type you describe where you push the reflector down against the three springs and turn it to lock it in place.
My mate Graham Hall has an August 29 Chummy which he has owned for many, many years and his car has the same type of lights as mine.
Of course, someone may be able to prove that we both have the wrong lights but until they do, I believe this type is correct.
