Hi Bruce, "normally" the "cap" is drilled to accept the crank handle. The ones I have taken notice of, have been anyway. I have noticed a few variations on the way the crank is held in the snout.

Can't comment on the pillars, they look like they may be from something different eg a Morris 8 or similar.

Jasons Chummy is thundering on quite well now. We have fitted an SU and a new rear main to the engine to save the 1 litre of oil he used to drop on the concrete every time he stops.
