This is one that could go on and on.

Many friends told me over the years that they omitted oil baffles with no adverse effects so when I built up the engine for my trials car in 1998, I left them out. The thing oiled plugs with a regularity.

The engine had Specialoid pistons with two comp. rings and one oil ring and after trying all sorts of other remedies that did not work, I fitted baffles as a last resort and, hey presto, end of plug oiling. Since then, I have always used baffles (but snipped open - sorry Ian). I must say that the theory that Stuart states seems logical to me and I would dearly love to do away with the things. Experience, however, tells me otherwise but I do not profess to understand it in any way.
