According to RJ Wyatt, your chassis dates from July 1938, so it is quite late as you said. I don't think you can find out what the original body type was from this number alone. You would also need a two or three letter code which may also be stamped on the chassis on these later models - I'm sure someone else knows. With that, the body type can be identified - details are in the Austin Service Journal.
