Thanks all for the information..... Here is what I have now found (hopefully it helps someone else down the track):

- The big-end shells on early Reliant and 3 bearing Seven engines ARE the same size - The centre main bearing is indeed a different size(as one would expect, as the Reliant crankshaft is redesigned around the centre main area to correct the short comings of the Seven 3 bearing crankshaft). The Reliant centre bearing shells are fitted into a removable split housing – not just a removable bearing cap. It is possible to line bore this housing assembly in situation to allow the use of an off-the-shelf bearing shell that suits the new centre journal grind (approximately 1.500” on the Reliant) etc etc. I will include some photographs after this job is completed to better explain all this and give some proper dimensions.
