You’re fast! I just hit the save button for this new stuff on springs. I'm sure this is not an original idea but it works well.

Greg, Re the Reliant engine.... Yes, it is going fine; the Club will allow its usage in place of the Seven engine in the replica Meteor project. Historic registration here is cracking down on non original running gear (which is good) but the Reliant has been viewed as being the first derivative of the Seven so it will be a nice piece of history when completed. So it full steam ahead now. The block had a small crack between number 1 and 2 cylinders but at some stage the bores were sleeved - to get over this. So the bores are back to standard size and will be 100% at .020” over now. The crank tested fine and was .020” undersize on the journals, so is currently being ground to .030” and new Seven shells are coming to suit. The centre main is different on the Reliant (thank god I can hear!). The centre main shells fit into a removable carrier. This carrier will be line bored in position to take a different shell OD and the crank journal ground to suit the new shell ID (if this made any sense?). It is a long term project and hopefully I will have all the machining and the engine together by Christmas. If anyone has a view on the best ‘standard’ road use camshaft grind, I would be interested in hearing the details and current options.

Bruce
