Whilst on the safety subject, it is very advisable to wear goggles when dealing with springs or anything on a car/DIY which might involve flying articles.

We used to have a good picture at work where an enterprising apprentice used a pair of box goggles when using a simple needle (swiss) file and the picture shows the end of the file stuck in the goggles where it had broken off!!
