Hello the fans with the opposite pitch are for the magneto cars which turn the opposite way to the coil cars. The fans were painted red by hand as the chassis left the track, Stanley Edge has told the story in print that the wagg that painted the fans once painted the backside of a visitors dog red as she was shown around the works!!!! the fans were red for sure.
